Not my favorite Amanda Quick. Book of Life Deborah Harkness. Quick did a great job of setting it up. I loved the fact that Lucinda saves herself in the book over and over again. Maanda the same time, it was kind of a mess.

Caleb agrees to take her loison as soon as he finishes up the one he is working on. In addition he finds a link to the notorious chemist Basil Hulsey who has been working on a drug to enhance psychic ability, supposedly developed by Sylvester Jones in the ‘s.

What I Didn’t Like: I also appreciated the opportunity for characters from two of the former novels to make appearances in this book, as well as a possible partial profile of Fallon Jones’s talent. One a side note, the explanation of Caleb’s mental anguish is particularly fulfilling, especially for fans of Umberto Eco’s The Name of the Rose – just love the intertextuality. All this takes place in the early ‘s so we are introduced to a different society around which this conspiracy takes place, as well as an early scene of romance.

So, just imagine my delight to discover a book that combines these two obsessions! Looking for More Great Reads? Not wanting amamda be accused of murder, Lucinda enlists Caleb Jones to find the real killer.
