Nevertheless, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to grow in his or her hgbels abilities. Utilizing contemporary music, the arts, relevant teaching from the Bible, and a small-groups community focus that has revolutionized hygels people experience community in the local church, Willow Creek has grown to more than 25, attendees, one of the largest churches in North America—and one of the most influential.

However, I do not think it would be the best book to start with for novice or entry leaders because they would not be able to relate to the emotions that Hybels speaks about in those sticky situations and may require more explanations and more life experiences in order to get the most out of it.

View or edit your browsing history. Hybels is using the word basically to mean “recorded observations” or “short phrases that sum up a larger idea. It is a good book to read.
This thing is chock-full of down-to-earth, pithy, very actionable proverbs. One of the things that smacked me between the eyes was this quote here because this was so me. The nature of human beings is such that we tend not to drift into better behaviors.
Most of it felt like common sense, but I really wasn’t the intended audience of this book, so I guess my vote needn’t count. I also like this genre because it allows one to read in bites. Add both to Cart Add both to List.
True, he mentions these things, but the reader will have to decide which gets the priority. Whether serving in the aximo or in ministry, as executives or rank-and-file employees, as salaried staff or volunteer servants, good leaders can pinpoint the rationale for their actions and decisions with the ease of reciting their home address. Brief, high-level snippets of wisdom I like mottos and word pictures to communicate concepts and experiences. Each chapter captures an idea and gives some perspective on why Bill lives by it.

Each proverb basically stands on its own, so there isn’t a connecting theme throughout the book. I read a aixom, but I tend to be fairly critical. Or they could’ve been dropped. Are We Still Having Fun? Growth isn’t a problem if you’ve got the right vision, policies, and procedures in place. But Hybels writes from one pastor to another. The Story and Vision of Willow Creek, written with his wife Lynne, outlines the successful formula he used.
I appreciate that the bite size chapters are easy to browse through, making it easy to gill what is useful at the time, and skip what doesn’t apply.
